Threads of Heritage

People form the fabric of a nation, where citizens, their culture, values, and collective identity, intricately weave the diverse reality of a country. The threads linking these two flags reflect the number of U.S. residents with Spanish origins, a population that has surged by 40% since 2010, as documented by the census.

This growth underscores the heterogeneity and evolving demographics shaping the nation’s social and cultural landscape.

This installation was handcrafted by the artist using wool on monk fabric, incorporating data sourced from the U.S. Census Bureau, specifically the American Community Survey.

The figures show the US population of Spanish origin (data for 2020 is not available). All figures were rounded to the nearest 100.
